Um mês depois
Após uma tragédia de proporções colossais que atingiu o Japão, seu povo mostrou a força dos samurais e a determinação dos monges na superação desta calamidade. Os terremotos e os tsunamis servem para mostrar o quão frágeis nós somos, porém a superação do povo japonês mostra a verdadeira força, dentro da nossa vontade de viver.

A month later
After a monstrous tragedy that hit the northwest of Japan, its people have shown the strength of the samurai and the determination of the monks in overcoming this disaster. Earthquakes and tsunamis show how fragile we are as humans, but the resilience of the Japanese people shows the real strength within our will to live.

Tokyo - Urban Neon Lights
Belíssimo ensaio noturno em Tokyo, por Thomas Birke. A longa exposição garantiu cores e contrastes incríveis, embora que hajam muitas fotos com tons levemente desaturados, o que confere uma caracterização atípica ao projeto.

速く（hayaku) - A Time Lapse Journey through Japan
Time-lapse é uma técnica cinematográfica que consiste em tirar fotos num determinado intervalo de tempo e transformar essa sequência num filme, ao final. Aqui Brad Kremer fez diversas filmagens em diferentes localidades do Japão no intuito de retratar um dia na terra do sol nascente desde a ofegante Tóquio, até a calma e pacata Nagano. Tecnicamente esta obra é belíssima, é possível perceber a rotação das estrelas e o rastro dos aviões, à noite, o absurdo fluxo de pessoas numa estação de metrô, o foco preciso, as fortes cores e a iluminação natural e soberba. Mas é no contexto que ela brilha: O Japão é lar de belezas incríveis, tanto naturais, como o Monte Fuji, quanto produzidas pelo homem, como os arranha-céus de Tóquio e os templos e castelos da era feudal. A humilde e simplória tenda de RAMEN em meio ao mar de cores e luzes das construções do centro de Tóquio; o aglomerado de pessoas fazendo piqueniques à margem de um rio para celebrar alguma data; o pôr-do-sol e o nascer da lua; o movimento das estrelas a medida que a noite avança; enfim, momentos únicos magnificamente capturados pelas lentes de uma 5DMKII da Canon. Uma obra fascinante.

Time-lapse is a cinematographic technique that consists in taking pictures at a certain time interval and transform this sequence into a movie in the end, basically. On this movie Brad Kremer made several shots in different locations in Japan in order to assemble a sequence of one day in the Land of the Rising Sun, from the breathless Tokyo to the calm and peaceful Nagano. Technically this work is beautiful, you can see the rotation of stars and the trail of the airplanes at night, the giant flow of people at the subway station, the precise focus, the strong colours and the natural and gorgeous light. But it is in the context that this work shines: Japan is home of incredible beauty, both natural, such as Mount Fuji, and man-made, like the skyscrapers of Tokyo and the temples and castles of the feudal era. The humble and lowly RAMEN’s tent amid the sea of colors and lights of the buildings in central Tokyo, the great amount of people picnicking on the banks of a river to celebrate, the sunset and rise of the moon, the trail of the stars as the night moves foward, well, moments beautifully captured through the lens of a Canon 5DmkII. A fascinating work, no doubt.

As chamas de Chinatown, Yokohama
Seguindo uma “série” de posts sobre o Japão, eis que encontro essa belíssima fotografia da Chinatown em Yokohama, capturada pelo fotógrafo Artem. O belo tom berrante de vermelho ilustra perfeitamente a unicidade da iluminação do bairro situado na segunda maior cidade do país. Como dito, o contraste e o forte tom de vermelho, além da composição em sí, ficaram sensacionais.

The flames of Chinatown, Yokohama
Continuing my “series” of pictures of Japan, i found this gorgeous photography of Chinatown, Yokohana, made by Artem. The strong and beautiful shade of red fits nicely to the unique chinese neighborhood of the second most large city of the country. As said, the contrast and colors, beside the composition itself, were spectacular.

京都の路地 (kyoto no roji)
As vielas de Kyoto
Assim como no post anterior, eis outra composição magnífica da centenária Kyoto. Nesta obra, Trey Ratcliff retratou uma das inúmeras vielas repletas de restaurantes da cidade. Infelizmente não consegui ler o Kanji no Chouchin (luminária). Como trata-se de um HDR (High Dynamic Range) a iluminação e as cores ficaram com este tom mágico, mas o enquadramento e a composição do assunto mantém o nível de qualidade da fotografia. Realmente incrível.

The alleys of Kyoto
Just like my previous post, this is another brilliant composition of the centennial Kyoto. On this photo, Trey Ratcliff shot one of the many alleys full of restaurants from the city. Unfortunately i couldn’t read the kanji wrote on the Chouchin (lamp). The magic colors and lighting came from the HDR (High Dynamic Range) technique but the angle and the composition keeps the quality level of this shot. Truly amazing.

さよなら、京都
Composição fantástica do Jonathan Fleming em uma das belíssimas ruas da gloriosa Kyoto. A inebriante iluminação, juntamente com a luminária adornada e as sakuras dão o tom certo para a antiga capital da terra do sol nascente - famosa por seus templos e sua cozinha.
Atordoante.
