速く（hayaku) - A Time Lapse Journey through Japan

Time-lapse é uma técnica cinematográfica que consiste em tirar fotos num determinado intervalo de tempo e transformar essa sequência num filme, ao final. Aqui Brad Kremer fez diversas filmagens em diferentes localidades do Japão no intuito de retratar um dia na terra do sol nascente desde a ofegante Tóquio, até a calma e pacata Nagano. Tecnicamente esta obra é belíssima, é possível perceber a rotação das estrelas e o rastro dos aviões, à noite, o absurdo fluxo de pessoas numa estação de metrô, o foco preciso, as fortes cores e a iluminação natural e soberba. Mas é no contexto que ela brilha: O Japão é lar de belezas incríveis, tanto naturais, como o Monte Fuji, quanto produzidas pelo homem, como os arranha-céus de Tóquio e os templos e castelos da era feudal. A humilde e simplória tenda de RAMEN em meio ao mar de cores e luzes das construções do centro de Tóquio; o aglomerado de pessoas fazendo piqueniques à margem de um rio para celebrar alguma data; o pôr-do-sol e o nascer da lua; o movimento das estrelas a medida que a noite avança; enfim, momentos únicos magnificamente capturados pelas lentes de uma 5DMKII da Canon. Uma obra fascinante.

Time-lapse is a cinematographic technique that consists in taking pictures at a certain time interval and transform this sequence into a movie in the end, basically. On this movie Brad Kremer made several shots in different locations in Japan in order to assemble a sequence of one day in the Land of the Rising Sun, from the breathless Tokyo to the calm and peaceful Nagano. Technically this work is beautiful, you can see the rotation of stars and the trail of the airplanes at night, the giant flow of people at the subway station, the precise focus, the strong colours and the natural and gorgeous light. But it is in the context that this work shines: Japan is home of incredible beauty, both natural, such as Mount Fuji, and man-made, like the skyscrapers of Tokyo and the temples and castles of the feudal era. The humble and lowly RAMEN’s tent amid the sea of colors and lights of the buildings in central Tokyo, the great amount of people picnicking on the banks of a river to celebrate, the sunset and rise of the moon, the trail of the stars as the night moves foward, well, moments beautifully captured through the lens of a Canon 5DmkII. A fascinating work, no doubt.
